What a day we had in the movie making studios of the Mind Lab!  It started with some great advice from one of our fabulous hosts Damon or 'D' for short.

I can't promise you that you will all succeed, but I can guarantee you will fail and when you fail you will learn something new!

And that is exactly what happened, we did fail and we did learn new things.

An Awards Ceremony to Remember

The red carpet was rolled out for the companies of the snack factory at the awards ceremony held this week.  

Best video, healthiest snack were just some of the honours up for grabs.  Well done to you all!

One of the challenges at the Snack Factory was to create a video snippet to hand over to the TV producers of a new food show for children.  Here is the entry from The Chocolate Factory.

A Super Snack Factory

This week the discovery centre was taken over by nine different companies all on a mission to create a snack as part of the 'Snack Factory Challenge'.  Our companies: Cupcakes on the Way, Peter's Pizza, Cheesiechewchew's, Blue Beans, Smack Parrots, Super Spring Rolls, The Chocolate Factory, Flaming Skull Boys and Cookies Delight had many tasks they needed to complete over the week.

Ten!

Week 10 for Room 20 was out of the ordinary.  We tackled a range of activities, learning how to make different things and then passing our learning on to others by holding our own workshops.  Check out what this looked like by exploring our DLO's (digital learning objects) below!

Mrs Clapham took us to explore the solar system.  We paced out the planets and found out just how far they all are from each other and the sun.

Observations

A Day in the Bush

Room 20 used their CURIOUS learner strategies as they explored the bush in the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park.  We were taken through the bush by park ranges, learnt about he parts of flowers and the jobs they do, and even got to plant our very own flax seeds.

Look How You've Grown!

From the tiny little seeds they started as, to healthy cress plants.  Learners in Room 20 have been watching their plants closely and have made sure they got what they needed to grow.
